ACE – Advanced environmentally sound and cost-effective technological solutions for tomorrow’s aquaculture industry

Synergy of positive forces
ACE (AquaCulture Engineering) will bring producers, technological companies and researchers together to find solutions for the challenges of today and tomorrow in the aquaculture industry.  ACE will offer large-scale infrastructure, including plants, sites and personnel, for research, development and testing of technology and equipment. When ACE is completed it will consist of ten different experimental facilities for salmon, marine fish, shellfish and for testing new technology.

Central Norway is at the centre of many of today’s success stories in aquaculture and a focal point in technological development and research. Researchers in Trondheim have achieved national and international acclaim. Thus it was natural to select Trondheim as the site of a European aquaculture research centre.

By combining science, technology, practical experience and training, ACE will contribute to:

    • preventing fish escapement and environmental damage
    • preventing accidents and increasing safety
    • insuring essential environmental conditions for the fish
    • sustainable exploitation of the coast line
    • securing continuous high productivity within aquaculture
    • increasing exports of technological solutions and expertise
    • increased international cooperation
